Wikileaks has published the locations of Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centres.

The document provides the exact address of facilities around the world, including Australia, circa 2015.

Eight data centres in Sydney are listed in the leak, which included the full addresses, and names and phone numbers of contact people at the facilities.

“It is important for the public to know where their data is stored. It should not be clouded in mystery,” said WikiLeaks’ editor-in-chief.

“This is of increased importance when the company in question is contenting for a billion dollar government contract.”

That contract could be the multi-billion-dollar JEDI contract, on which the United States Department of Defence will soon make a decision.

AWS and Microsoft are considered front-runners for the contract, which could run for up to a decade.
