The Australian Government is calling on interested organisations and individuals to provide feedback on purchasing arrangements for Employment Support Services delivered through Disability Employment Services.

Consultation sessions have taken place around the country over the past three weeks and submissions are due by March 29.

In the 2011-12 Budget the Australian Government announced unprecedented investment in these services and confirmed a competitive tender process for Disability Employment Services-Employment Support Service would be undertaken.

The Employment Support Service is designed to provide immediate access to tailored services for job seekers with disability to help secure suitable employment.

Minister for Employment Participation, Kate Ellis said that putting Disability Employment Services out to tender is an open and transparent way of ensuring that the best possible providers are delivering the most effective services to job seekers with disability.

“I have welcomed the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations and other disability consumer organisations support for our Government’s approach,” Ms Ellis said.

“Our Government is committed to helping people with disability find meaningful and sustainable work, and one of the best ways we can do that is by making sure they are linked with the best possible Disability Employment Services providers.”
