We’re in the business of people, but now the Adore Beauty People & Culture Team is looking for their own Captain to temporarily steer our ship. Ahoy! Just like days on the ocean, no two people or experiences at Adore Beauty are alike. Our future People Captain will have excellent navigational skills to steer our team’s ship to safe harbour, will know how to tackle waves both giant and gentle, as they support and inform our executive leadership team and will be the kind of Captain who leads by example as they live and breath the values of Adore Beauty.

The Head of People & Culture is responsible for all aspects of the People and Culture function, to deliver great experiences for our people. You will be leading a small but high performing and highly supportive People & Culture team. 

Sitting on the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), you will report to the CEO.  This important role partners closely with our leaders to support business practices and the delivery of our People & Safety Strategy. This role is the “holder & protector” of the values of Adore Beauty in the way we manage the business in relation to all team members &  external stakeholders and it leads our Safety Culture.

Through leading a small team of HR, Safety and Talent Acquisition experts, you will also experience diversity and variety in operational and strategic matters. On any given day or any given week, this role could transition and provide leadership across all aspects of professional HR management.

During the upcoming year, the key focus areas will be: 

• Further refinement and development of our remuneration framework including working closely with the People & Remuneration Committee to finalise and implement our first Reward Strategy that was built out during FY22 and support the ongoing management of our Remuneration Benchmarking framework, business wide Short Term Incentive Program and our new Long Term Incentive Program
• Continue to operate our Talent Management Framework
• Identify and roll out initiatives to scale culture, further develop our values and create rituals as we continue to grow
• Support the business through our annual Performance Management cycle.
• Support the ongoing leadership of our Employee Value Proposition including our pilot compressed work week initiative
• Working with the CEO and the ELT, determine our ongoing office requirements and recommend new principles of working (the future of work) for a world that is learning to live with COVID-19
• Continue to create and enable a safe working environment where team members feel safe and can return home safely each night
• Ensure the continued implementation of our Diversity and Inclusion strategy, as well as the creation of our FY24 and beyond D&I strategy
• Continue to develop and build capability within the People & Culture Team

Day to day responsibilities

• Provide inspiring leadership to the People & culture team (P&C Advisors, Recruitment Lead and Safety Coordinator)  
• Be a strategic thought partner for HR-related issues for the business leaders
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal and compliance requirements to ensure all work is done to limit business risk. Knowledge of employment law and Modern Awards will be important
• Undertake reviews of the HR related processes and practices to ensure they support the business, enable managers and team members
• Ensure we meet our statutory and ethical responsibilities from an occupational health & safety perspective

Who you are

Tertiary qualified, you are a seasoned HR leader with a strong people skill set and a bias for action.  You are both strategic and “hands-on”, collaborative in your style but comfortable to make decisive decisions when required.  You get things done and see them through until they are successfully implemented. Your background working in ASX listed environments is essential, as are your relationship management skills, your employee relations and safety expertise and a positive, proactive approach. You are warm, caring and engaging and whilst you take your work seriously, you do not take yourself too seriously. You are also very hands on and willing to be responsible for all aspects of HR and Safety, including having business partnering responsibilities.

You have demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, managing and further enhancing;
