About the Role

The Manager, People and Culture is responsible for partnering with the business to design, develop and implement strategies that will attract, engage, and develop employees and build a high-performance culture.  

This position drives the development and implementation of workforce strategies that align with the Centre’s overall strategy, vision and values, and creates enriching employee experiences.  Responsible for all aspects of human resources, the role will create, lead and coordinate processes, projects and initiatives aimed at ensuring the Centre’s people practices support an engaged and effective workforce. 

Essential Capabilities

To be successful in this position, you will have experience in a similar role, a passion for the arts and thrive in a high-energy, innovative environment. You will bring to the role:

  • A relevant professional qualification in human resources management or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience in human resources.
  • Demonstrated leadership to develop, influence and lead people strategy in a collaborative manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, coach and manage a high-performing team.
  • Sound knowledge and application of Australian employment legislation and experience in maintaining legislative compliance and effective risk management strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, influencing and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven knowledge and demonstrable expertise of both design and implementation of a wide range of operational and strategic human resources activities.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to align HR initiatives with organisational goals.
  • Proven experience in managing change and finding innovative solutions.
  • HRIS user and management experience (ELMO) or similar.

Special requirements

  • Flexibility in working hours to support occasional out-of-hours work will be required as part of the normal hours of duty for this position. 
  • This role will be performed mostly on-site supporting the Centre’s strong in-person team culture.  Geelong Arts Centre operates in a partially hybrid mode, with some of our workforce negotiating working from home one day a week.
