Head of People and Culture

This is potentially the most senior HR role in Wagga Wagga.

You must be up for a challenge.

Actually, let me rephrase that.

You actively seek challenges and see them not only to improve an organisation but to push yourself personally and professionally.

This is a strategic HR role where you’ll be focusing on developing the performance of the whole organisation, succession planning and most importantly building a positive and inclusive culture.

There’s no shortage of things to be done.

We are working with Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga (CEDWW) to secure a Head of People and Culture who brings an innovative and strategic mindset with a firm yet compassionate approach which as we know, can be a difficult balance to uphold.

The HR function of a large organisation is no easy feat, but you’re someone who can positively influence change and bring people along for the journey. You are confident in your approach and can be courageous when bringing new ideas to the table.

With six direct reports, you will be mentoring and leading the People and Culture Team which consists of 17 employees who have all played a key part in the organisational shift in recent years.

Sitting on the Executive Leadership Team, CEDWW understands the value and significant impact the Head of People and Culture has on an organisation and this role has a firm seat at the executive table.

This role partners closely with the leaders of the organisation to support business practices and the delivery of the people and culture strategy.

Employing over 1800 staff across the organisation, CEDWW oversees and supports 29 Diocesan schools. You will be developing relationships with principals and key stakeholders at each individual school ensuring they have a thorough knowledge of their HR obligations and providing direct assistance as necessary.

This is an extremely diverse role and as mentioned, there are some significant projects underway and on the horizon. CEDWW are continuing to actively build a collaborative and engaged leadership approach involving the entire organisation.

This is a role that offers the opportunity to work in a large and complex organisation. You’ll be navigating a complex industrial landscape which means not only being contemporary around changing the way in which education works and operates but also having the ability to advocate and work with both union and external influences.

Tertiary qualified, you are a seasoned HR leader with a strong people skill set and a bias for action.

As there will be travel required, you’ll be supplied a fully maintained company vehicle along with a very attractive base salary and super package.
