First established in 1976, Northside Community Service has grown significantly to an award-winning not-for-profit organisation that employees over 150 staff and an active roster of volunteers. Passionate about working towards a more fair and inclusive community, they provide a range of support services to the residents of North Canberra, including children, seniors, and people with a disability, as well as support for young people and families, women's housing and emergency relief, social groups and community venue hire. 

About the Opportunity

Northside now has a fantastic opportunity for a Human Resources Coordinator to join their team in Canberra on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be providing HR support to staff and management across the organisation, ensuring all key HR administrative and regulatory requirements are met.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Providing advice on HR policies, processes, and the interpretation of the Fair Work Act, the Enterprise Agreement, Awards, and other remuneration or condition frameworks;
  • Maintaining all employment related records, both hardcopy and in Northside’s HR/payroll system;
  • Coordinating the recruitment process, including working with managers on position descriptions, placing ads, shortlisting, interviews and reference/probity checks;
  • Managing new employee contracts, induction processes, and probationary review processes/records, also supporting regular performance appraisals and professional development;
  • Supporting managers and employees to resolve any grievances, disputes, performance discussions or misconduct matters;
  • Maintaining procedural fairness and ensuring documentation and reporting is consistent across business units; and
  • Assisting with the preparation of high quality management reports and information on a range of HR metrics or trends, as required.
