Site Compliance Coordinator

This position is responsible for coordinating all site safety compliance requirements, working with internal and external business to ensure all work systems, processes and work practices comply with the Contractor Safety management principles, relevant regulations, and the Queensland Rail Safety Environmental Management System.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, implement and oversee processes and systems to ensure adherence to Contractor Safety Management principles by all contractors entering and conducting work at Mayne Rail Complex.
  • Ensure all contractor safety principles are in place and that all contractor work authority requirements are submitted and approved before site access and subsequent work approval is granted.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders and internal staff to review, revise and subsequently approve access to the Mayne Rail Complex.
  • Build relationships with Queensland Rail business units (including Safety, property, asset managers and operators) regulators (Eg. ONRSR, Electrical Safety Office), contractors, and staff to improve legislative compliance and adopt best railway industry practice.
  • Develop and implement assurance systems, Conduct audits, including RIW and other licence checking, on all contractor work practices and activities within the Mayne Rail Complex.
  • Provide coaching and business improvement initiatives to leaders and approved persons with respect to Contractor Safety Management and work approvals.
  • Capture, report and analyse the information gathered during assurance process activities and make recommendations to management to highlight gaps, drive improvements and escalate issues as required.

Skills required to be successful in this role:

  • Extensive knowledge of enterprise wide contractor management, assurance and risk management processes and principles including but not limited to a detailed understanding of Work Health and Safety, Rail Safety and Environment legislation and related ISO and AS/NZS standards.
  • High level of skill to lead, manage, implement and evaluate the site safety compliance and audit processes.
  • High level of skill in the management, development and continuous improvement of maintenance systems and strategies through effective change management and application of legislative requirement into meaningful and logical work practices.
  • High level of skill in managing and co-ordinating investigations into site safety compliance issues and preparation of reports as required to various stakeholders.
  • High level of interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • High level of skill in stakeholder management including influencing, consultation, relationship building and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of and willingness to commit to and work within Queensland Rail's Values and Behaviours.

This is a permanent opportunity with a starting salary at $103,969.96 + Superannuation. In addition to a generous superannuation scheme, Queensland Rail also offers free train travel to and from work on duty days and a healthy work/ life balance.
