Senior Rail Safety Adviser - until September 2020 

 

Our Travel and Tourism unit are looking for an experienced safety professional who can manage and lead the Rail Safety Team to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, contractual and Queensland Rail Governance and Management Framework is managed and to ensure that the operational safety performance of Travel and Tourism is maintained and improved through the development and implementation of safety strategies that support the business objectives.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate previous in leading safety initiatives, strong leadership, risk management experience, performing safety investigations as well as having a strong knowledge of safety legislation. Accurate data analysis and reporting will be critical to this role along with the development and review of safety management systems.

Position responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Provide expert advice on rail safety and workplace health and safety issues in supporting improved safety performance for Travel and Tourist through effective day-to-day strategy formulation, customer, business partner and stakeholder engagement and people leadership.
  • Lead and manage in implementing and maintaining safety framework, policies, standards and key initiatives across the Travel and Tourist business.
  • Facilitate and administer the change and risk management processes in regard to Operational Safety for Travel and Tourist by consulting relevant internal and external stakeholders, employees and managers to ensure the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manager and co-ordinate the implementation of the Safety & Environmental Management System in Travel and Tourist to ensure Queensland Rail is enabled to meet compliance to safety legislation.
  • Manage and facilitate Travel and Tourist in investigation and reporting on risk and compliance-related matters.
  • Monitor safety performance and progress of safety risk treatment initiatives through active participation in Management meetings, Health and Safety Committees, Audits and investigations and provide challenge and improvement strategies in response.

This role may require attending callouts, working outside of normal working hours and travel throughout the state as required.

Qualifications in WHS/HSE would be highly advantageous

Starting salary: $103,995 + superannuation + rail pass
