Ambulance Victoria (AV) provides outstanding emergency healthcare and patient care, every time.  In order for AV to continue providing this high level of care it needs to look after its own people.  AV is seeking an experienced Senior Advisor Return to Work and Compensation Management professional, to provide exceptional care and services for our people.   This ongoing role is located in Doncaster however will be working from home in line with COVID requirements, until further notice.  Initially this is a full-time role, however days and time fraction may be open to negotiation.

About the role

Reporting to the Return to Work and Compensation Management Manager, the role will play an integral part in ensuring the well-being of our people, by providing specialist advice and planning and implementing best practice strategies and initiatives for the management of claims and complex injuries.  

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading a collaborative and consultative approach with all internal and external stakeholders through the development of strong working relationships and partnerships to implement safe and sustainable return to work outcomes and claims management strategies
  • Providing expert advice in relation to strategic claims and injury management
  • Overseeing best practice governance by supporting and overseeing claims and return to work reporting, and undertaking audits of claim files to ensure compliance with legislation and injury management policies and procedures
  • Undertaking and managing complex and/or high-risk projects

About you

You will hold a tertiary qualification in Occupational Rehabilitation, Workcover Management, Human Resource Management or other related discipline, and/ or have equivalent and relevant experience in claims management and return to work, in a public or health sector environment.   Experience with project management methodologies including Prince2 and PMBOK certification, is desirable and will be viewed favourably.

Your excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with your strong influencing, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, will enable you to convey clear messages, influence, and build and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships. In addition, your keen eye for detail, strong work ethos, calm demeanor, and ability to empathise, will see you succeed in gaining trust and support from others.

You will hold a current Victorian Driver's Licence and be willing to travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

This position is graded as AV5 and the salary range is $119,839 to $141,669 pa Pro-rata, plus 9.5% superannuation.  The expectation is that employees will commence at the base of the grade applicable to a position. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Australian National Criminal Check and pre-employment checks.
