The Role

We have an exciting opportunity within our Human Resources Team for a true generalist Human Resources Advisor who will provide high quality, responsive, timely HR advice and support to managers and employees across Haileybury.

The HR team at Haileybury are seeking a hands-on, systems savvy HR Advisor keen to develop by taking ownership of their own portfolio whilst supporting daily HR operational tasks, whilst being supported by an experienced HR team. 

As a key member of the Human Resources team and reporting to the HR Manager, you will work closely with the HR Business Partners in a busy and demanding environment. You will play a hands-on role with supporting them to meet operational requirements for their portfolio groups. As the HR Advisor, you will provide advice, guidance, and support to your key stakeholders (Sport Coaches and Music Tutors) across the full employee life cycle. 

With a new HRIS system on the verge of implementation, the HR Advisor will have the opportunity to contribute to the project and develop into one of the HR team’s HRIS Super Users.

We are seeking someone who already possesses foundational experience in a HR advisory role, has interest and skills in systems, a willingness to learn and contribute positively to a newly formed team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the processing, review, and input of relevant employee data into HR systems
  • Act as a HRIS Super User responsible for system usage consistency and transfer of knowledge across the HR team
  • Draft and maintain a range of HR documentation
  • Act as the first point of contact for employees on HR and employee relations issues in line with school policies and best practice, including disciplinary, grievance, and performance
  • With the support and mentoring of experienced HRBPs and the HR Manager, understand and interpret the Educational Services (Teachers) Award and the Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award
  • Work collaboratively with the payroll team to ensure application of relevant industrial instruments into the payroll system

Skills and Experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources; Industrial Relations; Business; Management or a related discipline and foundational experience in HR business partnering and/or advising
  • Experience with a HRIS and an innate ability to pick up new software systems
  • Willingness to learn how to interpret and apply knowledge of awards and/or other industrial agreements
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to be proactive, and possess a can-do attitude
  • Commitment to enhancing collaboration and a constructive culture
  • Able to work independently and deliver to agreed deadlines with a results-driven approach
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Sense of humour and desire to contribute to a cohesive and supportive team
