The Opportunity

We are seeking a senior Talent Acquisition Specialist to hit the ground running and join our global Talent Acquisition team. Reporting into the Director, Global Talent Acquisition, you will work in a taskforce supporting exciting transformation projects led out of our global headquarters across a variety of disciplines and levels of seniority. Predominantly sourcing talent for permanent opportunities at Cochlear.

You will be highly collaborative, working closely with line managers and our People & Culture team to fill open roles. You will implement our effective and efficient SOUND recruitment process to ensure we attract the best talent to deliver on our strategic business objectives. The role will be fast-paced given the time-bound nature of transformation projects.

The incumbent will demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the life sciences marketplace, developing innovative and creative methods and techniques to source talent and promote Cochlear.

The role is primarily office based (at our Macquarie University global HQ) with the opportunity for 1-2 day working from home.

Key areas of Accountability include:

Talent Acquisition

  • Effectively manage end to end recruitment activities for our transformation projects following the Sound Recruitment 2.0 process and utilising WorkDay functionality
  • Act as an advocate of our company values, articulating Cochlear's brand, positioning Cochlear as an employer of choice;
  • Create and sustain effective methods to develop a diverse pool of qualified candidates;
  • Provide appropriate feedback throughout the interview and selection process to advise and influence hiring managers, ensuring an overall effective hire;
  • Recommend to hiring managers relevant resources, techniques and selection criteria for interviewing, assessing, and evaluating applicants for suitability; facilitate the hiring team de-brief meetings; provide consultative advice on selection and evaluation ensuring consistent application of the selection criteria is complete and in line with local legislation
  • Handle candidate and current employee data within Cochlear policy and local Privacy law requirements.

Account Management

  • Work closely within the assigned project to understand talent requirements, business strategy, and develop talent pipelines to source best-in-class candidates;
  • Share targeted competitive intelligence relevant to the assigned business unit(s)
  • In collaboration with the P&C Managers and Head of Global Talent Acquisition, understand and leverage the primary customer group's Work Force Plan, "key roles" and succession plan strategies;
  • Influencing and coaching hiring managers, People & Culture team, Global Talent Acquisition team, Compensation Specialists, and other members of the Global People & Culture team;
  • Work with the appropriate Manager, Talent Acquisition to ensure resource allocation from broader TA team meets recruitment demands from the primary customer group
  • (If Applicable) Appropriately coach, develop, and manage a team

Recruitment Reporting and Onboarding

  • Maintain recruitment administration, including ensuring recruitment activity is recorded in an accurate and timely manner within the applicant tracking system;
  • Ensure job files are complete (in accordance with internal policies and legislation);

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to raising Cochlear's social media presence;
  • Share best practice and ideas amongst the broader recruitment team;
  • Contribute to the optimal candidate experience by identifying the key decision levers, and develop and create innovative and attractive market competitive offer packages;

Required Skills

  • Experience recruiting a range of positions, including senior-level candidates (director level and above) into a highly-sophisticated matrixed corporate setting
  • A proven ability to pipeline talent along with an in-depth knowledge of creative sourcing techniques to uncover passive candidates
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, presentation, collaboration, follow-up, and negotiating skills
  • Demonstrated ability manage complex, time-dependent deliverables and work within a fast-paced environment whilst balancing competing interests
  • Experienced in the use of broad range of recruitment tools and services including web-based services; candidate search databases and applicant tracking systems, contingent and retained search consultants; and college-based placement services
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to engage with a range of key stakeholders, both internal and external

Desired Skills

  • Deep recruitment expertise in time-constrained project based recruiting environments
  • Life Sciences industry experience (ideally medical devices)
  • Experience recruiting on behalf of a global headquarters
  • Experience with recruitment and HRIS systems (we use Workday)
  • Working knowledge of Global Mobility programs; compensation design/trends in a complex global Corporate

Work Experience

Substantial experience in a corporate recruiting role or in an agency/search firm role
