What you'll be doing

Provide high level strategic advice in relation to Peer Support Services, the Employee Assistance and Psychological Services Program (EAPS) and related trauma intervention services for NSW Ambulance staff. 
Provide direction to and coordinate the activities of the Peer Support Team and the EAPS on behalf of the People & Culture Directorate and in consultation with line Managers and Supervisors, including trauma intervention services, to help ensure the emotional and psychological wellbeing of all NSW Ambulance staff, including volunteers. Research, develop and implement policies, procedures, systems and practices for these programs. 
 
Work with the Senior Chaplain, the Chaplaincy Team, the EAPS provider, the Grievance Contact Officer Coordinator and other team members, to help ensure an integrated and consistent approach for these organisational support services. 

This is a temporary part time position, 2 days per week up to 31 January 2020  with possible extension. We are looking for someone who can work set days per week, 7.6 hours per day plus 30 minutes unpaid lunch break. Options include Monday & Friday or  Monday & Tuesday or Thursday & Friday. Expected start date is ASAP. As this is a temporary appointment you will be provided with one months’ notice if the appointment is to cease prior to this date.

Total remuneration package valued at $125,453 (including salary $95,426pa to $113,183pa, annual leave loading and employers contribution to superannuation). Salary packaging arrangements providing additional benefits are also available.

Note : As this will be a part time appointment, the remuneration will be paid at a pro rata basis to that of a full time employment.

The location of this role is State Headquarters, Rozelle.

Employment conditions: 

  • The successful applicant will be appointed under the terms and conditions of the Health Managers (State) Award and will be required to enter into the annual Performance Development Program.
  • The successful applicant may be required to undertake duties at the other centres should the need arise.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a satisfactory conduct and services check, which includes referee/supervisor check, a review of National Criminal Record Check, review of Service Check Register, a review of sick leave, ability to undertake full duties of the position and clearance from the Professional Standards Unit.  
  • NSW Ambulance employees subject to an ECP or ICP consolidation period are ineligible to apply for this position.
  • Completion of NSW Health Mandatory Training courses is a mandatory requirement for all NSW Health and NSW Ambulance employees applying for this position.

Reporting to the Director Healthy Workplace & Strategies you will meet the following knowledge, skills and experience: 

  1. Relevant qualifications and experience in relation to the provision of trauma support or peer support and the ability to manage EAPS provided by an external provider.
  2. Understanding of emergency services workplace culture and operations, and the challenges in providing staff support services to frontline NSW Ambulance employees.
  3. High level communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to liaise and consult with key parties, negotiate successful outcomes in relation to complex and/or sensitive issues, conflict resolution and presentation of information sessions.
  4. Leadership and team management skills, including the ability to enhance team relations, monitor team functionality, promote the well-being of individual team members, and undertake remedial or performance management processes.
  5. Sound analytical skills, including the ability to undertake research, identify key issues, resolve problems and undertake effective case management.
  6. High-level ability to organise, prioritise, meet deadlines and achieve set goals and demonstrated experience in preparing reports, formal correspondence and briefing papers; dealing with sensitive and confidential matters in tight timeframes.
  7. Computer literacy, including experience in word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, email and other applications in the Windows environment.
