What does the job look like?

Collaborating with a prominent beverage company on an exciting new contract, the Safety and Compliance Manager assumes a pivotal role in promoting the proactive integration and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture, strategy, plan, and performance at the site, in accordance with Group strategies and the LIFT values.

This position will adopt a focused strategy for identifying, evaluating, and addressing both the physical and mental risks inherent in our warehouse and transport operations. This permanent position will be operating out of our Tullamarine operation, Monday – Friday. Key areas:

• Collaborate with the leadership team and supervisors across Warehouse and Transport functions with health and safety expertise, ensuring compliance with legislative obligations
• Formulate and implement a practical health and safety strategy through a consultative and collaborative approach, fostering a culture that prioritises and appreciates safety
• Create strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including WorkSafe insurers, to establish clear agreements and understandings of roles and responsibilities, minimising risks and injuries for a safe workplace
• Offer direct guidance and support to maintain an up-to-date site Activity Planner
• Coordinate internal and external audits to ensure Safety Management compliance
• Ensure operational COR and Mass Management compliance by implementing and auditing critical procedures
• Oversee the site's safety performance, including contractors, and report on performance and continuous improvement actions through monthly safety reporting at the site level
• Develop action plans, in consultation with sites, to address identified key risks within the area of management responsibility
• Conduct thorough investigations into incidents to identify root causes and contributing factors, ensuring all events in FoxSafe for the site adhere to safety plan requirements
• Advise management and department heads on compliance responsibilities and maintain effective compliance communication channels

Are you the one?

You will be a highly motivated individual who can take charge of Safety, Health, Wellbeing and Compliance across the Warehouse and Transport functions for our Tullamarine operation. You will possess in-depth knowledge of compliance requirements and place a significant emphasis on the wellbeing aspect of the role. You can demonstrate:

• RISK:An understanding about how to practically identify, assess and manage risk.
• COACHING:Experience in coaching or training. The ability to talk, listen and influence across a broad range of stakeholders.
• CULTURE:Experience in building a strong 'team based' culture.
• SAFETY:Experience in a safety role within a dynamic, high-risk environment.
• HEALTH & WELLBEING:Genuine interest and experience in health and wellness.
• COMPLIANCE:An understanding of legislative responsibilities and the regulatory environment that exists for WHS. 
• LEARNING:A keen interest in continuous learning and the ability to share learnings with others.
