Injury Management Advisor

Reporting to the Claims & Injury Management Team Leader, the Injury Management Advisor will deliver early intervention, injury management and return to work (RTW) strategies for our team members at our NSW and ACT sites.

The Injury Management Advisor will have the important task of employing interventions that promote recovery and sustainable return to work outcomes for our injured team members  This role would be well suited to someone with a passion for helping others, and the ability to coach and mentor managers, educating them in supporting recovery and building capability in their on-site teams.

With your background in Allied Health and your understanding of occupational rehabilitation processes, you will work with all parties in the rehabilitation process to support team members’ recovery and successful return to work following injury, while ensuring compliance with Myer’s legislative obligations as a self-insured employer.

About the Role:

  • Implement effective injury management and claims strategies to improve return to work outcomes, reduce hours lost and mitigate claims costs
  • Manage the rehabilitation and return to work of injured team members
  • Establish and maintain proactive communication with injured team members, their treating practitioners and other stakeholders to facilitate recovery and return to work
  • Actively monitor and manage RTW progress to ensure issues are identified early and action is taken
  • Provide coaching and advice to site management to drive the development of capability in managing RTW processes
  • Participate in projects to deliver Myer’s Risk & Safety Strategy, Myer’s safety management system and state initiatives
  • Promote the ‘Health Benefits of Good Work’ and the ‘Clinical Framework for Delivery of Health Services’

 About You:

  • Relevant qualification in an Allied Health discipline
  • Relevant experience in occupational injury management 
  • Ability to understand and apply injury management regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working in a self-insurance environment is great, but not necessary
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of return to work approaches and rehabilitation, the ‘Health benefits of good work’ and the ‘Clinical Framework for Delivery of Health Services’
  • Experience in review and approval of medical services and treatment requests
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and organisational skills to manage projects, caseloads and priorities
  • Strong communication skills
