This role is responsible for developing and implementing this Council's Workplace Health & Safety Management System. Reporting to the Senior Workplace Health & Safety Consultant, you will provide advice to key stakeholders while also ensuring that compliance is maintained in line with workplace health and safety requirement.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to the review of Workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Assist with investigations into incidents and high risk activities
- Provide support to managers and training in order for them to manage issues and develop risk prevention strategies
- Assist with injury management strategies and programs
- Prepare reports and share these with the workplace health & safety team
- Conduct workers compensation claims as well as return to work programs
You will require:
- Sound knowledge of OHS legislation and workers compensation
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Experience in managing workers compensation claims and return to work
- Previous local government experience would be advantageous
