Job description:
We are currently seeking a Human Factors Advisor for work on our Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), in the South Eastern Program Alliance (SEPA).
This large-scale project will benefit train users, pedestrians, cyclists and drivers by improving safety, reducing congestion and enabling more frequent train services.
About the role:
In this role you will be responsible for providing a coordination and advisory role in the development and delivery of human factors integration activities for level crossing removal projects through the complete project development and delivery lifecycle.
This is a full time permanent role primarily based in Richmond. You may also be required to travel to site project offices in Melbourne’s CBD and along Melbourne’s South-East where required. Although dedicated to SEPA, this role also joins a wider industry community of human factors professionals at Metro and across the level crossing removal program. As a Metro employee you will receive free public transport travel.
The Human Factors Advisor collaborates with the level crossing removal design team, Metro and other stakeholders to integrate end user human factors considerations in the design of rail systems and facilities, stations, car parks, and landscaped public spaces. For both the temporary construction phase, and for the final delivered facilities, your role will identify and evaluate the human factors risks and issues for end user groups that include Metro’s train drivers, operations and maintenance staff, passengers and other general public user groups.
You will liaise with end user representatives and engineering and operational subject matter experts and ensure appropriate human factors analysis is undertaken as required to support the project team to develop project solutions that mitigate safety risk arising from human factors and deliver optimal outcomes for end users.
This role is integral to managing compliance with the human factors requirements under Metro’s Safety Management System and Rail Safety National Law.
