Media Coordinator, Supreme Court of Victoria

The Supreme Court recognises that its people are integral to its ability to meet and exceed community expectations and to achieve its goal of being an outstanding superior court.

The Media Coordinator works directly with the Communications and Public Affairs Director to facilitate and strengthen communication between the Court and both the news media and general public. The role is a trusted liaison point between the news media and the Court and is responsible for helping to provide expert advice to bring to life the work of the Court. The role works closely with the Judiciary, Associates, Court staff, the central Communication Services team and members of the media.

Key responsibilities of the role includes:

  • Assist journalists to fairly and accurately reporting of court matters, by providing a highly responsive approach to daily media requests for information about current court matters.
  • Help prepare and review complex technical reports on media coverage and respond promptly and effectively to media requests in consultation with key internal stakeholders.
  • Work with the Communication Services team to develop social media content and work across other communication channels to provide innovative solutions.

To be successful in this position, you will have a high degree of diplomacy and exercise sound judgment when addressing media issues to ensure fair, accurate and contemporaneous reporting.  Your superior written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders will equip you to achieve excellent solutions and outcomes for the Supreme Court.
