Recover at Work Adviser | Human Resources

In this newly created Part Time role, the Recover at Work Advisor will assist the establishment of group wide Injury Management and Rehabilitation Return to Work procedures and implement these to enable safe and effective return to work outcomes for injured or ill workers. 

The role

This is a newly created Part Time role ideally 4.5 hours a day, 5 days a week, working as part of the Human Resource Team. Initially focusing on our Australian and New Zealand businesses, you will be responsible for all aspects of Rehabilitation and Return to Work processes across the Michael Hill group including;

  • Effectively manage statutory Workers’ Compensation claims to maximise outcomes for both the injured worker and Michael Hill.
  • Reviewing and develop standards, procedures and forms to enable continual improvement of Rehabilitation and Return to Work compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Assisting with completion of End of Month reporting requirements.
  • Assisting with the management of Common Law claims.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of Injury Management & Recover at Work Training.
  • Scheduling regular claims reviews with required stakeholders.
  • Providing operational and technical Recover at Work advice and coaching to managers.
  • Monitoring and analysing performance, systems and processes to identify and prioritise improvement opportunities.
  • Building strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

About You

 We are looking for someone with:

  • Greater than 5 years’ experience in a Rehabilitation Return to Work Coordinator / Advisor role.
  • Relevant Tertiary or Industry based Education. 
  • Experienced with multi-jurisdictional claims management e.g. States and Territories of Australia – if has had exposure to New Zealand and Canadian jurisdictions positive, but not a mandatory requirement.
  • Able to interpret and apply W/Comp legislation Acts, Regulations and Standards as they apply across respective jurisdictions and in alignment with Michael Hills claims management are rehabilitation approach.
  • Experience in coordinating Workers Compensation Claims using SolvInjury Database (previously Injury Connect) to enable a safe early intervention and return to work strategy for injured or ill workers.
  • An excellent communicator with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyse and investigate matters where required, to develop recommendations relating to statute and damages claims to meet business objectives.
  • Competent in computer applications, i.e. Microsoft Office applications, relevant Injury Management and Incident Management platforms.
  • Completed Rehabilitation / Return to Work Coordinator training.
  • Willingness to flex-up hours in the future if required.
