Work, Health and Safety Adviser  

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals NSW is Australia's preeminent animal welfare organisation. We provide a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. The RSPCA is committed to the care and welfare of animals, providing extensive professional facilities, including fully equipped veterinary hospitals and our state-wide shelter network, with dedicated staff located throughout NSW to care for animals.

RSPCA NSW is now looking for a Work Health and Safety Adviser to join the team. As an experienced Work Health and Safety professional you will take our safety systems to the next level. Working closely with managers within the business you will ensure a healthy and safe workplace and active management of work place injuries.

Role responsibilities:

  • Work health and safety management including reporting, compliance, developing and maintaining policies and procedures
  • Providing subject matter advice on work health and safety matters
  • Monitoring and attending work health and safety committees to ensure effectiveness, providing subject matter advice and support
  • Monitoring compliance to manual handling programs
  • Delivering training and coaching to managers and employees as required
  • Injury management including performing the role of Return to Work Coordinator

Selection criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in work, health and safety or a related discipline and proven experience in a work, health and safety role
  • A thorough understanding of workers compensation insurance and experience in effectively managing work injury claims and workplace injuries
  • Experience delivering work health and safety improvement initiatives and providing advice to managers and leaders to mitigate or control risk and promote workplace health and safety
  • Proven ability to develop, maintain and monitor work health and safety and injury management reporting, including detailed analysis and providing fit-for-purpose recommendations to the business
  • Articulate with strong written skills, including developing comprehensive reports and delivering presentations to small to medium sized groups
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Initiative and ability to prioritise

  • The desire to work with people to improve animal welfare outcomes
  • NSW driver's licence
  • ConnX experience (desirable)
