Defence Learning Branch is seeking an enthusiastic individual to permanently fill an expected vacancy at the EL1 classification. The Assistant Director position is located at Brindabella Park, Canberra just up from the Canberra airport.

Defence Learning is part of the People Policy and Culture Division within Defence People Group, which aspires to create a culture of learning in Defence by providing high-quality products and services that are accessible, practical and supports the future capability needs of our APS workforce. This is an exciting time for us as we embark on the implementation of the APS Future Learning Strategy that aims to provide a learning and development function that will support Defence’s future workforce.

The Defence Learning Management System (LMS) team in Canberra manage the Campus application providing Helpdesk support, on-boarding support for new courses plus second and third level technical support. As part of implementing a Future Learning Strategy, the Campus team will be exploring the possibility of a new Enterprise Wide Learner Experience Platform (LXP) to enable our learning products for the future, with a focus on interactivity and accessibility.

The successful candidate will lead a team located at Brindabella Park, in Canberra, that is at the forefront of learning transformation in Defence. You will be liaising with a wide range of stakeholders and senior leaders to plan and manage a range of projects. You will be supported by an environment that encourages innovation as you deliver on the strategic direction for APS learning in Defence.
