HR Business Partner - WA/NT

This role is responsible for delivering all generalist HR activities and be responsible for partnering with business units to provide professional HR guidance and advice to employees. Our ideal candidate will add value to the organisation through embedding National HR and IR strategies and will assist all business units to achieve their strategic objectives.  You will need to be outcome focused, able to deliver and follow through on HR, Safety and Leadership initiatives that drive improvement in our business.

Primarily this role will support the Midland Brick business situated in Middle Swan.  This site is an integrated manufacuting site.  The role also supports our five salessites within the Perth metropolitan area.  We currently have in excess of 300 employees.

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Actively engage with the workforce in supporting safety initiatives being introduced throughout the region and guidance on complex Employee Relations and Industrial Relations matters.

  • Mentor/coach Business Unit leaders in HR related practice
  • Assist with recruitment in conjunction with line management including conducting interviews, writing accurate position descriptions and conducting job evaluations to support Boral’s Best People practice ensuring that Boral Diversity policies and procedures are followed.
  • Advise and educate managers and other employees on policy and legislation matters by keeping up to date with policy and legislation changes ensuring fair and consistent application of HR policies and practices
  • Assist in the negotiation of enterprise agreements and resolve workplace relations matters in a manner that supports the interests of employees and Boral.

To be considered for this role you must have the following

  • Bachelor Degree in Business/Commerce/HR or Psychology
  • Significant generalist and operational HR experience of 5+ years
  • Demonstrable experience in construction/mining/building/manufacturing sectors in a senior HR capacity.
  • Knowledge and ability in the use of HR Information Systems (Chris21 desirable)
  • Job Evaluation certification (Mercer desirable but not essential)
  • LSI accreditation is desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with all people including the ability to lead and influence
  • High standard of integrity, strong customer orientation and the capacity to understand and apply a commercial focus
  • Exposure to industrial relations and an ability to develop sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as employee organisations and the government
  • Ability to influence, develop and motivate others to change behaviours and practices to create an ideal working environment and culture
