Human Resources Manager

 

Brain Train (www.thebraintrainco.com) is a rapidly growing allied health organisation with centres in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, providing a network of therapies for autism and neurodevelopmental challenges. Our core purpose is to help children and adults with neurodevelopmental differences, and their families, to thrive.  Our foundational program is based on sensorimotor integration and our network of therapies includes OT, Family Support , Early Childhood Intervention, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology and Exercise Physiology.

We are seeking  the right person to develop and implement a  comprehensive HR system,  so that HRM becomes a core competency of our company. Key areas include managing all matters relating to recruitment, organisational capability, retention, team wellbeing, culture building, compliance and health and safety.

Position Description

  • Develop and implement a People and Culture strategy 
  • Lead, develop and implement People and Culture policies and procedures, in liaison with the CEO and leadership team to improve engagement, retention and productivity
  • Forecast, plan and meet our future hiring requirements to ensure we are proactive in identifying skills needs and have the team required to meet our expansion forecasts, as we grow our footprint in multiple cities
  • Develop and implement systems and processes to measure and monitor the health and culture of the company
  • Attract and Recruit – source and attract appropriate talent, understand the full compliment of credentials/previous training needed for ‘right fit to role’. Set up the right sourcing strategy by understanding where to find suitable candidates. Conduct interviews and reference checks and, with the leadership team, select suitable employees, conduct employment agreement negotiations and manage the documentation process;
  • On-boarding employees – develop and implement a best-in-class orientation, induction and on-boarding process. Who do they meet on first day, what do they get, how do they train and learn our values and culture, who coaches them, who do they get exposure to and when and what does this look like over the course of the first three to four weeks. 
  • Assist with annual appraisal and performance feedback process for non-therapy staff, as well as various touch points through the year to provide continuous feedback on performance.
  • Assist the Leadership team with any required counselling and termination process and ensure that employees are exited from the business correctly against the right process and protocols as outlined in the Award and that appropriate learnings are implemented. 
  • Provide advice regarding remuneration and benefits 
  • Manage industrial and employee relations - understand the application of the relevant Award across relevant states, conditions around wages, dispute management, employee welfare, discipline and compliance with AHPRA registration obligations.  
  • Compliance management – with the leadership team, ensure compliance with the NDIS Code of Conduct and NDIS Practice Standards. 
  • Manage Workplace Health and safety. 
  • Able to build baseline workplace and NDIS policies and guidelines, implement appropriate training and ensure adherence.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in human resources (or equivalent) with at least three years of relevant experience delivering human resources solutions
  • Detailed knowledge of the Fair Work Act and other relevant industrial instruments.
  • Experience working in an allied health environment will be highly regarded
  • Able to obtain a Working With Children Blue Card and pass Police Checks and other mandatory working with children screening requirements
