People and Culture Advisor at Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS)

About us:

WAIS was established in 1984 to enable Western Australian athletes to achieve international sporting success.  We operate in partnership with National Sporting Organisations and State Sporting Associations along with the VenuesWest and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to deliver a high- performance training environment for sports and athletes.

Role Overview.

As a P&C advisor, you will be a pivotal player in maintaining and enhancing our unique culture.  You’ll provide expert advice and support on a range of HR matters from recruitment and performance management to employee relations and learning and development initiatives, working closely with management to deliver a positive employee experience for our team at WAIS.

Key responsibly areas for the role are:

  • HR consultancy and advice
  • Recruitment, selection, and onboarding
  • Relationship management and support for a positive employee experience
  • Learning and development
  • Policy and procedure development and review
  • Work Health and Safety
  • Information and knowledge management.

About you:

  • You are an experienced generalist HR professional with a thorough understanding of HR management practice and issues.
  • You have exceptional communication skills and the ability to build and maintain positive and effective relationships in the workplace.
  • You can demonstrate your ability to problem solve and manage and advise on complex workplace issues and you have sound knowledge of all relevant employment legislation and can accurately interpret and apply policies and awards.
  • You will have worked with HR databases previously and ideally have HR qualifications although this is not a deal breaker.
  • Experience within the sporting sector would be great but is not essential but a passion for sport will be a game changer!
  • Above all else, you are a genuine team player that cares about others and always acts with kindness and integrity.
