What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Associate Director Health Safety and Wellbeing, the Health and Safety Manager leads the strategy and operation of Health and Safety Services and initiatives across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN)

This role leads and influences safety values, skills, behaviors, and attitudes to establish a positive and robust health and safety culture across the network.  This is achieved through implementing the SCHN Health Safety and Wellbeing Plan 2024-2027, creating standardized, simplified, and accessible training, tools, and resources, and ongoing promotion through solid partnerships with leaders across the network. 
  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety (WHS) or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of qualifications and work experience
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate strategic and operational plans
  3. Extensive experience and record of success in driving proactive health and safety initiatives within a complex and fast changing organisation
  4. Demonstrated strong leadership skills to enhance staff performance, influence workplace culture and lead change
  5. Demonstrated ability to act as a mentor, guide, and facilitator to other leaders’ identifying and liaising with key stakeholders and authorities as needed
  6. Extensive working knowledge of workplace health safety and workers compensation legislation, codes of practice with proven ability to implement requirements
  7. High level oral and written communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  8. Current drivers licence (with ability and willingness to travel throughout the Network consistent with the demands of the position and stakeholder needs)
