The Role
Applicants will have to select one stream only within the HR function to apply against.
Candidate Engagement, Onboarding and Placements
The Candidate Engagement and Onboarding Team are responsible for managing the pipeline, facilitates engagement via various pathways and offers guidance and assistance to candidates throughout the onboarding process.
The ASD Placements team is responsible for managing all merited candidates, including placement thereof within the directorate, and internal promotions.
This is a fast-paced team, which handles large numbers of candidates and needs to manage internal and external expectations while also meeting key targets. This is a team which is a critical component to meeting REDSPICE targets and which will require individuals who are able to work under pressure and have the ability to prioritise tasks. Roles within this team require strong stakeholder engagement across various business areas to ensure that vacant positions are filled with suitable candidates and within a certain timeframe. Stakeholder engagement with incoming candidates is also a key aspect of this role, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical.
Recruitment
The Recruitment and Attraction team are responsible for the attraction and selection of suitable candidates for roles across a broad spectrum of positions across the Agency. It has an instrumental role in enabling the REDSPICE expansion and requires the facilitation and support of recruitment activities for business areas and vacancies Agency-wide. This includes agency-wide, specialist and Entry Level Program recruitment activities. It is a dynamic and fast-paced team environment, which seeks to continuously improve and innovate.
Stakeholder engagement and customer service is an essential part of this role as you will be a contact point for various stakeholders and required to communicate deadlines, issues, and timeframes to both internal and external teams. This can be a high-volume role and requires the ability to prioritise and triage competing priorities, and the ability to frequently report on activities and be accountable for your own work. Previous experience with Recruitment-specific applications such as eRecruit is highly desirable.
Divisional Recruitment
The Divisional Recruitment team are responsible for the coordination and management of divisional recruitment plans. A role in this team will require individuals to work with key stakeholders to identify workforce requirements, scheduling of recruitment activities to meet these targets and the interpretation and application of ASD Recruitment policy to provide complex recruitment advice.
This team provides divisional recruitment reporting and the delivery of recruitment focused information and training sessions in line with best practice. As a Divisional Recruitment Manager, you will provide strategic recruitment advice including the development of marketing and/or attraction strategies. Continuously building knowledge of the organisation through engagement across the Agency to further enable collaboration across divisions.
Stakeholder engagement across multiple areas of the organisation is a key aspect of this role and excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical. The ability to meet tight deadlines while managing competing priorities is crucial to this role. Previous experience with Recruitment-specific applications such as eRecruit and a working knowledge of merit selection principles is also highly desirable.
Human Resource (HR) Case Management:
The HR Case Management team provides advice and guidance on all areas of personnel case management including probation, performance management, medical case management, conduct and change management, as well as providing general advice and assistance on HR-related matters. The Senior Leadership Group (SLG) are one of the key stakeholders for this team as the team works directly with the SLG to provide strategic people advice and support the provision of people services.
A role in this team will require individuals to handle daily case management and maintain integrity and professionalism.
Proactive communication is essential to this role, as is the ability to coordinate day-to-day case management and safety initiatives to drive optimum and sustained outcomes. The team operates in a fast-paced operational environment and the ability to meet tight deadlines while managing competing priorities is crucial to this role, as are stakeholder engagement stills, problem solving abilities and resilience.
Work Health and Safety
The Work Health and Safety team are responsible for keeping our workplaces safe and enhancing employee health and wellbeing. The team leads health and safety programs, systems and initiatives to ensure all workplaces across the Agency are as safe and healthy as possible. The team provides information, advice and guidance on general WHS and legislative matters, oversees compliance, due diligence and assurance activities and works in conjunction with the ASD Leadership team to ensure safety is at the forefront of ASD’s daily business and operational activities.
This role requires sound knowledge on WHS-related legislation and policy and the ability to communicate this knowledge to a range of stakeholders in a concise and effective way. A broad understanding of HR and/or WHS policy and procedures and the ability to interpret and apply these understandings is critical to succeeding in this potion.

Workforce Intelligence and Planning
The Workforce Intelligence and Planning team is accountable for providing reporting to the Agency regarding the workforce, including: capability and diversity, movement and leave reporting. This information is utilised by the SLG and is visible across the Agency; it requires accurate collation of qualitative data, which is transparent and comprehensive. This team is also responsible for the administration and coordination of workplace surveys.
The Workplace Relations team work closely with the Workforce Intelligence team and are responsible for all ASD People Policies. The team provides trusted professional and technical advice, and shapes innovative strategies to enhance our terms and conditions of employment in line with public sector employment frameworks.
Workplace Relations
The key focus of the Workplace Relations team is the administration of the ASD Determination including HR delegations, development of HR Policy and advice. The team is also responsible for the management of secondments, workplace grievances
The Workforce Intelligence team work closely with the Workplace Relations team and are responsible for all ASD People Policies. The team provides trusted professional and technical advice, and shapes innovative strategies to enhance our terms and conditions of employment in line with public sector employment frameworks.
This is a role with high visibility and strict deadlines. Candidates should possess the ability to work with their team in a demanding environment, with accountability and integrity. Experience with Excel and the ability to manage, manipulate and prepare data in pictorial format is highly desirable, but not essential.

The ideal candidate will differ dependant on the stream you are applying for, but we are looking for candidates with demonstrated interest in and/or experience within HR, including skills such as:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of people, including at an internal and external senior executive level
- The proven ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and integrity including the ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy
- Demonstrable attention to detail, with the ability to take responsibility for own actions and accurate completion of work.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities and triage effectively while still ensuring key targets are met.
- At the ASD 6 level: experience implementing strategic HR initiatives, and experience leading and managing a team to be high performing and collaborative
