The newly released NSW State Budget holds some dire news for workers in the judicial system, with word up to 100 jobs will be cut from the Attorney-General’s Department.

The cuts will affect every level of the judicial system, though Attorney-General Greg Smith says Local Courts will likely be hit the hardest. With the number of cases before Local Courts in decline over the last few years, reports say the NSW government was living beyond its means.

Cuts had been rumoured since an internal memo was leaked in May, indicating a need to cut judicial salary expenses.

The 2013-2014 NSW Budget has raided the possibility of a reutrn to surplus next year, more information is available here.
