Fair Work Australia has approved a pay and conditions agreement struck between Qantas and the licensed engineers union late last year.

The deal will see Qantas’ 1600 licensed aircraft engineers receive a three per cent pay rise while also introducing changes to the rostering of extended hours and will expire in 2014.

The ruling will end months of bitter conflict between Qantas and respective union bodies which culminated in grounding of its fleet last year.

"This is a positive outcome that will allow Qantas to move forward with certainty and allow our customers to continue to book with confidence. The union cannot take any industrial action before 2015," Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said told the ABC.

"The determination from Fair Work Australia does not contain any of the restrictive demands that would have handed control of parts of the airline to the union, however it provides reasonable pay increases to our workers."
