About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced leader to join our People & Culture team at RSPCA Victoria.

Reporting to the Head of People & Infrastructure, you will oversee a small team and lead the delivery of strategies and services that make a meaningful difference to the engagement and experiences of our people.

This role is both strategic and operational, so you will be required to zoom in to understand details and processes, while simultaneously zooming out to see the bigger picture and set strategic priorities for the People & Culture team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of People and Infrastructure, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead a small team of staff and volunteers to the highest levels of performance, engagement and job satisfaction.
  • Lead the identification, implementation and evaluation of impactful people strategies that supports continued improvement to our culture, employee and volunteer engagement and organisational effectiveness.
  • Proactively partner with the business to deliver strategic and operational support across all people related functions, including (but not limited to); organisational design, talent management, workforce planning, recruitment, reward and recognition, performance management, issue/conflict resolution and leadership development.
  • Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of People & Culture policies, procedures and practices that promote the organisations desired culture and ensures compliance with relevant legislative obligations.
  • Manage the payroll function via the outsourced provider for RSPCA Victoria, ensuring the delivery of timely and accurate payroll services that is in accordance with the organisations contractual and legislative obligations, including but not limited to, fortnightly payroll, taxation, workers compensation, terminations, adjustments, salary packaging and superannuation payments.
  • Lead the management of industrial relations matters, including the negotiation and application of the Enterprise Agreement and management of grievances raised through external agencies.

What we are looking for from you

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business/Human Resources Management.
  • Previous experience developing and implementing people strategies and plans in line with organisational strategies that drive people engagement, retention and performance.
  • Previous experience in leading and developing high performing teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of employee and volunteer management related legislation and practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment.
  • Position also requires a national police check, working with children’s check, valid driver’s license and COVID-19 vaccination.
