About our Role

We are a dynamic food manufacturer with 5 manufacturing plants and farming operations in Australia. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Safety, Health and Wellbeing Manager to join our Echuca team in regional Victoria.

What will you do

Reporting to the Head of Safety, Health and Wellbeing, and as a member of the wider safety leadership team, you will provide the strategic direction, set priorities and lead Safety, Health and Wellbeing activities across the site.

This role is instrumental in ensuring the business maintains a strong commitment to continuous improvement in Safety, Health and Wellbeing through implementation of the Workplace Health and Safety program, supporting line management in delivering the Simplot strategy within the site.

  • Coach and support managers, providing advice and guidance in relation to the management of WHS risks, employee/contractor safety, WHS policies and workers compensation
  • Co-ordinate OHS risk identification, risk assessment and risk control in all areas, lead incident investigation and reporting activities
  • Support the delivery of health and wellbeing initiatives to promote a wellbeing-focused culture across the site and assist with the development of programs and strategies to assist employees and managers in identifying early intervention
  • Manage the Workers Compensation and Injury Management process which includes return to work, rehabilitation management and claims management strategies
  • Provide input to the development of WHS training plans, working with the LL&D team to co-ordinate and at times facilitate training sessions
  • Contribute to the development and review of Simplot WHS Policies and Procedures in line with regulatory and industry requirements

What will you bring

  • You are a hands-on Safety professional who is experienced working within a Food/FMCG, manufacturing or operations industry.
  • Relevant tertiary qualified (or post graduate diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline).
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards.
  • Sound knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, risk control principles and their practical application to plant, equipment, processes, property, environment and other risk exposures within the business.
  • Solid understanding of the principles of work-related injury/illness and rehabilitation, practical application of appropriate claims management processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build partnerships both internally and externally at all levels of the organisation.
