About the role

The role provides a critical health and safety advice and support service to the Grampians and Barwon South West regions, including air ambulance. This role is a 12 month contract with a possibility of on-going employment. Based out of Geelong and reporting to the Senior People Partner, the responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Driving results across Operational and People Services objectives through the provision of health and safety support expertise, service practices and advice on health and safety policies
  • Proactively implement health and safety strategy through the interpretation and application of key specialist health and safety programs and initiatives.
  • Provide health and safety services across the entire employee lifecycle, including, but not limited to hazard and incident investigations, monitoring of corrective action and risk assessments.
  • Contribute to the analysis, review and development of a risk profile, hazard, incident and injury data by identifying local priority areas, evaluating opportunities and making recommendations for sound and practical improvements
  • Provides on-the-job education and training to managers, colleagues and staff in AV's health and safety suite of programs, systems and practices.
  • Contribute expertise to a project, management or operational team through the delivery of professional and technically accurate communication, direction and advice

About you

To be considered for this position you will possess:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of OHS legislation and skills and experience in its practical application
  • Extensive knowledge, skills and experience in the implementation, maintenance and review of safety management systems (AS/NZS 4801:2001, SafetyMap or equivalent) and safety audits
  • Experience in the use of computerised programs in particular Word, Excel and Access
  • Required to possess a current Victorian Driver Licence and willingness to travel throughout Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria as required
  • Extensive skills and knowledge in conducting risk assessments
  • Extensive skills and knowledge in conducting risk assessments
  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent (Desirable)

Conditions of employment will be as specified in the Ambulance Victoria Enterprise Agreement 2015.

This role includes working across both regions (Barwon SW and Grampians) with travel a requirement for the role.  An AV vehicle will be provided for travel purposes when required.
