Safety Advisor - Salisbury

About the Role

Bega Group is seeking a Safety Advisor for our Salisbury site. At Bega, the Safety Advisor role is equivalent to industry standards for a Safety Manager. In this role, you will be integral in improving safety performance at the site by positively influencing site safety practices and behaviours on a strategic and operational level.  The role will provide on-going advice, guidance, coaching, mentoring and support to the site leadership and management team, employees, and other site personnel to achieve the safety strategies and ensure compliance with legislation and Bega safety requirements.

Flexible work arrangements (as agreed with your manager) are available, noting this role is based full-time at an operational manufacturing site.

Our Salisbury site in Adelaide’s northern suburbs manufactures a range of more than 78 milk and milk-based products. 
This site is a combined production and distribution facility producing well-known brands such as Pura, Dairy Farmers, Farmers Union, and Feel Good; and distributes across predominantly SA and NT, but also NSW and VIC.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and lead the site in Bega’s Health & Safety (H&S) policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. Identify and mitigate safety risks in the workplace.
  • The role will provide on-going advice, guidance, coaching, mentoring and support to the site leadership and management team, employees, and other site personnel to achieve the safety strategies.
  • The Salisbury Safety Advisor will be a trusted advisor to the site leadership team and provide an independent view of safety performance and compliance whilst working closely with Group Safety subject matter experts for support and an escalation pathway.
  • You will work closely with line managers to ensure thorough risk assessments are performed and critical risk registers are maintained with critical controls implemented.
  • Prepare and coordinate the completion of various site reports for SSG, L2 & L3 to drive continuous safety improvement.

About you

  • Diploma or Degree in Safety desirable, or extensive relevant industry experience.
  • A minimum 3 years experience in a similar role is advantageous.
  • A champion for safety leadership and safety culture by upholding appropriate safety standards in the workplace in line with Bega values and safety principles and leading edge behavioural/leadership safety programs.
  • In-depth practical knowledge of Australian occupational (work) health and safety management systems, standards, and legislation.
  • Supports business processes by understanding and effectively using standard office IT equipment and standard software packages
