Human Resources Officer

Location: Cairns based  
Status: Full Time Permanent 
Salary: $83,838 - $91,452 p.a. + 11.5% superannuation contribution

About Us 

Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the Opportunity

The Human Resources Officer is responsible for providing high quality support to the Human Resources Manager and organisational managers for the delivery of a range of human resource services. The position will focus on the employment cycle including recruitment, onboarding, support in the probation and performance review processes together with the provision of general human resources advice.

Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Qualification in Human Resources Management 
• Experience supporting and coordinating complex Human Resources processes across the employment cycle 
• Demonstrated ability coordinating recruitment and selection activities 
• Experience providing human resources / industrial relations advice to management 
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills 
• Proficient in the interpretation of organisational policies and procedures, Employment Agreements and relevant legislation, including the Fair Work Act 2009
• High level knowledge and skills in Human Resources processes, practices and systems 
• Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
• Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
• Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
