Health and Wellness Coordinator

Based out of Melbourne's biggest Sports and Aquatic facility, Melbourne Sports Centres is looking for an experienced Gym/Fitness Coordinator to join our Health and Wellness team as the Coordinator, overseeing member engagement and retention.

Reporting to the Health and Wellness Manager this is an amazing opportunity for you to take the next step in your Fitness career, working out of the elite MSAC facility, based out of Albert Park.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and self-driven individual to join our Health & Wellness team in this key position. With the key focus of this role being on building and executing retention programs for our large member base, the role of ‘Health & Wellness Coordinator’ requires someone with great organisational and administration skills, who has proven experience working in a similar role.

Working with the Health & Wellness Manager and the Health and Wellness team, your primary responsibility will be to increase member satisfaction and implement programs of work that directly and positively impact member retention whilst working as part of the broader management team. This will include responsibility to develop new initiatives and address feedback from members/patrons to improve existing facilities and services. Sound verbal and written communication skills along with an ability to take the initiative and motivate others will be critical to your success in the role.

As a strong people manager who is not afraid of driving cultural change and having challenging conversations, you will also be able to think outside the box and be the driving force behind retention strategies and initiatives throughout our H&W programs. Your customer service focus will be second to none, and you will thrive in an environment that is both fast paced and challenging. We guarantee you that no two days working at MSAC will be the same!

You have the proven ability to provide leadership to the H&W team and bring them on your journey to improve the overall experience for members. You will have a commercial mindset to proactively identify ways to improve performance, reduce attrition and drive revenue and performance standards across the department. Your ability to build trust with all stakeholders, both internally and externally, will be essential to your success.

This is a full-time role but given that the facility is open across weekdays, evenings and weekends, it is essential that you are flexible in how you are able to structure your working week. You will need to be adept at managing multiple projects and be able to manage an expansive team whilst remaining calm, professional and solutions-focused.

Your key objectives will be:

  • Build and develop retention programs for our Health & Wellness members
  • Assist the H&W Manager with the overall running of the H&W department
  • Effectively manage team dynamics and individual skill sets to instil a strong team ethos and deliver the best possible service outcomes
  • Seek feedback from the members on issues and concerns, and identify solutions to address these
  • To work closely with the Marketing team to create marketing plans and develop collateral
  • Oversee the Group Fitness Supervisor to ensure MSAC applies best practices, attracts talent and remains on trend regarding current and future member/patron expectations.
  • Develop and maintain effective tools to improve member retention and increase average membership tenures
  • Identify key reasons for member attrition and develop appropriate preventative programs/strategies
  • Regularly analyse data to review results and make recommendations

Proven experience with strong results in a similar field and sound knowledge of the fitness industry is required. Ideally a Certificate 3 / 4 in Fitness (or similar) would be well regarded but is not essential for the role. Candidates must have CPR and WWCC.

Please send a resume and a cover letter, specifically outlining your experience in a retention focused role,

We will be reviewing applications and commencing interviews as they come in, so please don’t delay in applying!
