NETBALL NSW OVERVIEW

Netball NSW is a not-for-profit organisation and is governed by a Board of Directors and managed by professional staff. Netball NSW is the peak state sporting organisation responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of netball throughout New South Wales and is affiliated to Netball Australia.

We have a full time stand alone HR Manager position reporting directly to the office of the CEO in a fast paced sporting environment that is big on team collaboration and maintaining a strong dynamic culture.  This role was originally advertised as part-time role and at a lower level however a decision has been made to upgrade this role to full-time therefore the skills requirement has been upgraded also.  If you have applied for the previous role please note that your resume will be reviewed so there is no need to reapply.  Also note that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.  Thank you in advance for your interest.  

Some of your skills and abilities will include:

Building Leadership and Management Capability

  • Providing Managers with guidance and support on recruitment and selection, staff grievances, performance management issues, performance reviews, learning and development, terminations/redundancies
  • Working with managers to develop and implement HR solutions that align to business needs and strategy

Workforce Performance

  • Managing annual performance review process 
  • Working with managers to implement a performance management framework

Supporting the business

  • Providing advice to managers and staff regarding employment conditions, policies and entitlements
  • Generating general correspondence when required

Administration Management

  • Maintain and update employee personnel files & records

Managing risk

  • Continually monitoring compliance with relevant employment legislation

Managing the employee lifecycle

  • Working with managers to write position descriptions and job ads
  • Working with managers through the recruitment process
  • Generating employment agreements/letter of offers
  • Supporting managers on the induction of new employees and performing an HR/Payroll Induction
  • Managing the employee exit interview process

Learning and Development

  • Managing the overall training budget with Executive General Manager Finance and Strategy
  • Working with managers to ensure training is in line with the strategic direction of the company
  • Developing and implementing relevant in house training as required

Consultative

  • Provision of strategic advice to CEO/Exec team on people strategies including building and maintaining a positive culture
  • Helping to manage difficult conversations and underperformance
  • Lead the people and culture plan for NNSW including professional development
  • Being the people’s advocate and voice where appropriate

Qualifications and experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR management, or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources in a generalist position with proven consultative experience.
  • Strong knowledge of current Australian employment law; experience in providing employment law advice to managers and working with external legal counsel
  • Excellent written, organisational, interpersonal and communications skills
  • The ability to build strong relationships at all levels 
  • Working With Children Clearance
